Grease disposal program (City of Allen, Texas)—I researched and wrote the material to send to neighborhoods having critical grease problems; letter had to be approved and signed by Community Services Director Steve Massey.

  • Poster version of guidelines

  • Half-page, two-sided flier

  • Blurb for Allen homeowner associations to put in their newsletters and websites

Reuse-A-Shoe contest (City of Allen, Texas)—Posters I created to display at all Allen ISD campuses

Household hazardous waste disposal guidelines (City of Allen, Texas)

Recycling presentation for Lovejoy ISD (City of Allen, Texas)—I created and taught this presentation to Lovejoy ISD kindergarteners at their teachers' request. I researched the material and Collin County city regulations, shot all photographs of the two boys showing materials and of the recycling plant, and presented it to the classes in the Lovejoy Elementary gym.

Hewlett-Packard (HP), Electronic Data Systems (EDS), and HP-An EDS Company

Hewlett-Packard (HP) Enterprise Services Worldwide Marketing training—Used Adobe Captivate 5.0 to create web-based training for the HP Self-Provisioning Sales Pursuit Microsite “wizard” tool, which allows non-technical HP sales and marketing staff to create a custom sales pursuit site for a prospective client in less than 30 minutes. Also created Self-Provisioning Sales Pursuit Microsite tool user guide in MS Word, accessible as PDF from HP intranet. (Created for HP in 2010; I can only show title page and table of contents.)

CiT Ad Hoc Access demo—Demo showing how to request access to an Electronic Data Systems (EDS) online invoicing system. The user doesn't have to do anything—simply watch. I created other training that required user practice interaction. I also created several much longer tutorials for EDS, including one that was almost 100 screens long. The example you'll see here is the shortest of the web-based tutorials and demos I developed. (Created with Adobe Captivate 3 in late 2008 for EDS; click link to run this 20-step demo.)

Metrics standard for the EDS Web Standards site—One of more than 70 website standards topics I wrote and/or edited for EDS-developed internal and client websites worldwide. Because of my knowledge of web standards and content development, I performed as both an in-depth editor and a subject-matter expert. This sample shows my edits and revision suggestions to the author of this Metrics standard. These 70 standards covered a full range of issues including website content, usability, visual design, functionality, and accessibility to disabled web users. (Created in 2007 for EDS; 11-page sample.)

Rebar Prerequisite Software Installation Guide—The shortest of seven major guides (manuals) I created and customized for my primary audience, EDS software developers using the Rebar tool to design web applications. Several of these guides were only one-page outlines when I began. I also developed the training/documentation guide standards and format for the Architecture Services division where the Rebar tool was designed. (Created in 2003 for EDS; 24-page sample.)

Business Improvement Cycle training—With SME, I co-developed and co-taught this three-day lecture-style course to all Corporate Security division managers and their direct reports. (Created in 1996 for EDS. 5-page sample—cover plus table of contents; all I can show because of EDS Security guidelines.)

Plano ISD Network Training course—In less than three months (with no other staff available), I researched, designed, developed, and implemented a seven-hour, instructor-led computer lab course to train Plano ISD staff to use the new PC network and email system that EDS was implementing in all Plano ISD sites. I created an instructor manual (175 pages) and student manual (144 pages) containing extensive screen graphics, a quick reference, and numerous practice files for hands-on PC work. I taught the course pilot to Plano ISD HR trainers, who then took over the instruction as part of a train-the-trainer arrangement. (Created in 1995 for the EDS Plano ISD account, although you'll see later dates in the headers because these are print dates instead of save dates.) I've included the following samples here:

  • Table of Contents (Instructor Manual)—shows detailed outline of course content. (6-page sample.)

  • Section 6: File Management and Sharing (Instructor Manual)—this complete section illustrates the course's depth and format. (Instructor's notes are boxed and in italics; 32-page sample.)
