About Us
Prison Ministry Volunteers
Jesus
said, “I was in prison and you visited Me.” Our hearts are in the
prisons!
Karla Faye Tucker: Set Free is the story of Linda
Strom’s 11-year relationship with
Karla Faye Tucker.
A month before her execution, in a video produced inside Mountain View
prison, Karla told the Discipleship Unlimited team, “You guys come in here,
and you don’t see inmatesyou see people. You see people who are either in the
body of Christ, or people who are still lost in sin. You don’t see people who
have committed crimes. You see people who have committed sins. That makes a big
difference in someone’s life like mine who is in here, because we feel that kind
of acceptance from you … You’re not coming into inmates, but coming
into people. That’s when people open up to you. God has anointed you to do deep
inner healing and restoration.”
We experience God as He works in the lives of both men and women during our
monthly marriage seminars in Wisconsin’s Dodge Correctional Facility and Oshkosh
Prison. Twice a year, we take a team of volunteers into Taycheedah
(women’s
prison). And each February, over 70 volunteers from across the country gather in
Gatesville, Texas, for our weekend
seminar in the prisons there.
While many team members are able to pay their expenses, others cannotand we
need them with us! Their stories are important. Taking a team of “wounded
healers” with us into prison is costly. Yet we know we have a clear call
from God to take the life-changing message of God’s love, forgiveness, and
transformation into the prisons.
