  • "Plano ISD Network Training" course—In less than three months (with no other staff available), I designed, developed, and implemented a seven-hour, instructor-led computer lab course to train Plano ISD staff to use the new PC network (including email) that EDS was implementing in all Plano ISD sites.  I created an instructor manual (175 pages) and student manual (144 pages) containing extensive screen graphics, a quick reference, and numerous practice files for hands-on PC work.  I taught the course pilot to Plano ISD trainers, who then took over the instruction as part of a train-the-trainer arrangement.

Computer-Based Training (CBT)  and
e-Learning
  • "Using the Systems Life Cycle (SLC) for Maintenance and Minor Enhancements" course (14 hours workstation CBT).
  • EDS Interactive Distance Learning Network (e-learning)—Helped create and cost the original proposal to build the EDS Interactive Distance Learning Network (IDLN), which broadcasts interactive EDS employee and customer training worldwide, plus public non-profit projects such as Dr. Robert Ballard’s JASON project.
  • General Ledger curriculum (CBT).
  • "Networking Overview" (CBT).
I used the Instructional Systems Life Cycle (ISLC) and similar methodologies to determine training and communication needs (including needs analysis) and to design, develop, test, implement, and evaluate courses and curricula.  I worked with lecture-style (classroom) instruction, computer-based training (CBT), Interactive Distance Learning (e-learning), and various self-study, job aid (quick reference), and help media—in a broad variety of technical and non-technical subjects.  I mentored other instructional designers, developers, and editors in these areas.  I wrote and edited extensively in all training projects.
